FISH ON A SNAG. AKA and see "Mississippi Sawyer (1)." American, Reel (cut time). D Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB. "Fish on a Snag" is east Kentucky fiddler biography:John Salyer's (1882-1952) version of the well-known American fiddle tune "Mississippi Sawyer (1)." The first strain is 'crooked'; seven measures long with one measure in 3/2 time, but the second strain is 'square'. The title is idiosyncratic to Salyer and appears nowhere else.
