FLY BY NIGHT [2]. AKA and see "Best Shot," "Lancashire Clog Hornpipe." American, Reel, Hornpipe or Clog. B Flat Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AA'B. The melody is in Coes Album of Jigs and Reels (1876) and Ryan's Mammoth Collection (1883) as a Lancashire clog. William Bradbury Ryan printed it twice in his collection, as the un-dotted "Fly By Night [2]", and as "Best Shot." O'Malley's ending for the second part came from New York fiddler Andy McGann.
