FOLLOW ME DOWN TO CARLOW [1] (Lean Me Sios Go Ceatair-Loc). AKA - "Follow Me Up (to Carlow)." AKA and see "Ril Cam (An)," "Bonnie Annie (3)," "Crooked Reel (The)," "Dinny Delaney's (2)," "Flip McGilder's Reel," "Lady Luebeck's Reel," "Lord Kilbeck's Reel," "Miss Murphy (2)." Irish, Reel. A Dorian (O'Neill): B Minor (Taylor). Standard tuning (fiddle). AB (O'Malley): AA'B (O'Neill): AABB (Taylor). A reel setting of the air to the song "Follow Me Up/Down to Carlow," also set as a jig. A close variant was entered into Book 2 of the large c. 1883 music manuscript collection of County Leitrim fiddler and piper biography:Stephen Grier (c. 1824-1894) as "Lord Kilbeck's Reel," and in the 19th century collections of the Gunn family of County Fermanagh as "Lady Luebeck's Reel" (the Grier and Gunn titles are 'folk-processed' from one another). County Cork uilleann piper and Church of Ireland cleric James Goodman also entered a version in his mid-19th century ms., under the title "Miss Murphy (2)." "Flip McGilder's Reel" was the title used for another variant in Ryan's Mammoth Collection (1883).

Brendan Breathnach traced the tune to a predecessor Scottish reel, "Bonnie Annie (3), originally printed in Daniel Dow's c. 1775 collection, reprinted by Glasgow musician and editor James Aird in his third volume of Selections of Scotch, English, Irish and Foreign Airs.
