FROSTY MORNING [3]. AKA and see "Drunken Hiccups (1)," "Rye Whiskey (1)." American, Air (3/4 time). A Major. AEac# tuning (fiddle). ABB'CDD'D". "Frosty Morning [3]" is Magoffin County, east Kentucky, fiddler biography:John Salyer's (1882-1952) version of the air better known as "Rye Whiskey (1)" or "Drunken Hiccups (1)." It retains much of the same features of those tunes, including melodic contour, cross-tuning (AEac#), and use of pizzicato notes, though details differ somewhat. Salyer plays it at a very brisk walking pace. The "Frosty Morning" title is unique to his playing.
