Ferdinand Dione was a fiddler from Sainte-Anne-de-la-Pocatière, Kamarouska, Bas-du-Fleuve region. He learned the tune in the early twentieth century from a fiddler named Japhette who also lived in Sainte-Anne-de-la-Pocatière, and who was one of his mentors.
