GIGUE DE L'AVEUGLE, LA. French-Canadian, Reel (2/4 time). E Major (Barbeau & Massicotte): A Major (Demers). Standard tuning (fiddle) if played in E; tune AEae for key of A. AABB' (Barbeau & Massicotte): AABBC (Demers). Mme. Catherine Dagenais-Major (Montreal) leaned the tune as a girl from the playing of a middle-aged blind man named Forget, who busked for dancing at the foot of Nelson's Column in Montreal. The dance he played she remembered as "Gigue de l'aveugle."
