GIGUE DE MA POUPOULE (My Doll's Gigue). AKA and see "Reel des cols rouges." French-Canadian, Reel (cut and 3/2 time). C Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AA'BB'. Soucy researcher Jean Duval notes that a version of the tune had been recorded three years prior to Isidore Soucy's 1936 Bluebird recording by another prolific Montreal recording artist, fiddler Joseph Allard, as "Reel des cols rouges." It is also a cover of "Reel de Napoléon (2)." Duval speculates that Soucy's title may have been a reference to his wife, Laura, as the flip-side of the recording, "Reel des jumelles" probably refers to her as well.
