GIGUE DU SANS-TRAVAIL (Unemployment Jig). AKA and see "Reel du président," "Reel Lindbergh." French-Canadian, Reel (cut time). D Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AA'BB'. "Gigue du sans-travail" is Isidore Soucy's cover of "Reel Lindbergh," recorded in 1928 by fiddler Fortunat Malouin (1870-1935) who composed it in 1917 originally as "Reel de la Rivière-Blanche," changing the name for the recording to commemorate Charles Lindbergh's 1926 solo transatlantic flight. J.A. Boucher has the tune as "Reel du président" in his 1933 collection.
