GRAY HORSE'S MARCH. Scottish, March (cut time). G Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB. The title perhaps refers to the Royal Scots Greys, a unit that began as three troops of dragoons in Grey uniform coats. When inspected by William III in 1693, it was noted the regiment was mounted on grey horses but the original grey coats were replaced with red, or scarlet, coats with blue facings, proclaiming the Scots Greys "Royal" status.
