HENNESSEY'S HORNPIPE [3].AKA and see "Cuckoo (1) (The)," "Dublin Hornpipe (2) (The)," "Gigue Canadienne (1)," "Murray's Fancy (1)." Irish, Hornpipe (whole time). G Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB. "Hennessey's Hornpipe [3]" was recorded by Cape Breton fiddler wikipedia:Angus Chisholm in 1934 for Decca Records. It is a version of the tune usually known as "Dublin Hornpipe (2) (The)", although County Sligo fiddler wikipedia:Michael Coleman (1891-1945) recorded a version as "Murray's Fancy (1)." Chisholm's hornpipe setting is very closed to Quebec fiddler Joseph Allard's "Gigue Canadienne (1)," recorded in Montreal in 1928, save that Allard's version is set as a reel.
