HO MO CHAILEAGAN. AKA - "Hey My Wee Lassies." Scottish, Jig (6/8 time). G Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB. "Ho Mo Chaileagan" was printed in Islay fiddler-composer biography:Alexander Mackay's A Collection of Reels, Strathspeys and Slow Tunes, the dating of which has not been determined. Charles Gore gives a date of c. 1802, while John Glen dates it to c. 1822 (which seems likely). J. Murdoch Henderson found a watermark on the volume he examined that pointed to a date of c. 1832. Mackay composed a number of tunes in the collection, and marked others as "Old" or "Very Old", but "Ho Mo Chaileagan" is unattributed and unremarked upon.
