HORNPIPE [58]. Irish, Hornpipe. F Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AAB. The hornpipe is a close version of Elizabeth Lindsey's, Countess of Balcarres, untitled "Quick Step" (see "Quick Step (7)"), printed by John Watlen in his Celebrated Circus Tunes in the early 1790's. The melody was also published by Glasgow musician James Aird twice at the end of the century, in the fourth and sixth volumes of his Selection of Scotch, English, Irish and Foreign Airs.
