IRISH HOP JIG [1]. Irish, Hop or Slip Jig (9/8 time). D Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABBCCDDEE. Joyce obtained the tune from the collection of County Cork lawyer John Edward Pigot [1] (1822-1871). The tune is a version of "Long Room of Scarborough (The)," an English country dance tune published in London in 1748. Compare also with "Tea in the Morning."
