JACKSON'S HORNPIPE [4]. American, Hornpipe (2/4 time). A Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AAB. Composed by Michael Higgins and published in his 1829 collection, published in New York. Unfortunately, nothing is known of the composer. The title probably refers to Andrew Jackson [1] (1767–1845), seventh President of the United States, newly elected to office in the year Higgin's collection was published. See also Higgins' "Hickory Reel," perhaps also named in honor of Jackson.
