JIMMY JOHNSON. American, Reel (cut time). USA; Virginia, West Virginia. A Major. AEae tuning (fiddle). AAB. "Jimmy Johnson" is a common West Virginia tune, and elsewhere, under different titles. It was in the repertory of W.Va. fiddlers Melvin Wine (1909-2003) and Ernie Carpenter (1909-1997, who learned it from his father Shelt Carpenter).
It was said to have been Wine's favorite tune.
