KILCUMMIN SLIDE, THE. AKA and see "Kennedy." Irish, Slide (12/8 time). Ireland, Sliabh Luachra region of the Cork-Kerry border. G Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AA'BB. Sliabh Luachra accordion player Johnny O'Leary stated: "I'd say it is from Kilcummin[1] (Co. Kerry) it came. The most of the slides and polkas come from there. That's the strange thing." However, Fr. John Quinn finds the tune cognate with James S. Kerr's "Kennedy," published in Glasgow in the 1880's. See also the Pennsylvannia-collected quadrille (jig) tune "Allegheny County", which is quite close in the first strain. The first strain also appears as the third part of "Dingle Regatta."
