KITTY LOSTY'S REEL (Seisd/Cor Caitin Ni Losglaide). AKA and see "Bashful Beau (The)," "Laune Rangers (The)," "Ladies' Taproom (The)," "Queen of May (2) (The)," "Washwoman (The)." Irish, Reel. E Dorian. Standard tuning (fiddle). AAB (O'Neill/1850): AABB' (O'Neill/Krassen). The reel is usually known as "Queen of May (2) (The)" nowadays. Nearly twenty years later O'Neill printed another version of the tune as "Bashful Beau (The)." Other versions of the tune appear in the large mid-19th century music manuscript collection of County Cork cleric and uilleann piper Canon biography:James Goodman under the title “Washwoman (The),” in County Leitrim fiddler and piper biography:Stephen Grier's c. 1883 collection as an untitled reel, and in Frank Roche's collection as "Laune Rangers (The)." The second strain of "Kitty Losty's" is almost exactly note-for-note the same as the second strain of "Tap Room (The)" (a member of the "Hopetoun House" family of tunes), although the first strains have little in common.
