LADY JANE NEVILLE. AKA - "Lady Jane Nevill's Reel." Scottish, Reel. G Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AAB (Athole, Marshall, Skye): AABB' (Kerr). Composed by biography:William Marshall (1748-1833). Lady Jane Neville (1798-1856) was one of the five daughters of Lady Louisa Gordon and Charles, Marquis Cornwallis; thus she was the grand-daughter of Alexander, the 4th Duke of Gordon, who employed Marshall as Steward of the Household. She married the Honorable Richard Aldworth-Neville (later Griffin) (1783-1858), 3rd Lord Braybrooke, Baron of Braybrooke, in 1819 and became Baroness Braybrooke in 1825 (when her husband succeeded to the title). Her mother-in-law reputedly had a great sense of humor and Cowie says she was a particular favorite of composer William Marshall's.
