LIGHTNING HORNPIPE [3]. American, Jig (6/8 time). E Flat Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB. "Lightening Hornpipe [3]" is obviously a 6/8 time jig, but the title is probably not a mistake. Scottish fiddlers sometimes called 6/8 time pieces 'reels', and, similarly, the term 'hornpipe' for the 6/8 tune probably refers to its use as a dance tune (rather than descriptive of the musical metre).
