LINK HIM DOD(D)IE [1]. AKA - "Linkem Dodie," "Link Him Dodie," "Linkumdoddie," "Sink Him Doddie." AKA and see "Blue Breiks, Blue Britches, Satin Breeches." Scottish, Strathspey (whole time). A Mixolydian. Standard tuning (fiddle). AAB. 'Link' means to dance or skip. The melody appears (as "Linkem Dodie") in the [James] Gillespie Manuscript of Perth (1768, p. 94). John Glen (Early Scottish Melodies, 1900, notes for No. 376 of the Scots Musical Museum) finds an earlier appearance of the tune under the title "Blue Breiks/Blue Britches" in Robert Bremner's 1757 collection.
