LITTLE PICKLE. Scottish (originally), Canadian; Jig. Canada, Cape Breton. A Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB. Composed by Scottish fiddler-composer, bandleader, music publisher and dancing master biography:Joseph Lowe (1797-1866), who published a collection of dance music in several parts in the 1840's. Lowe was born into a musical family; his father, John () was a fiddler-composer who produced “Rachel Rae” and “Archie Menzies," among other tunes still part of Scottish traditional repertoire. His brother, Robert, was also a musician and dancing master in Brechin.
The jig is popular among Cape Breton fiddlers and has been recorded numerous times.
