Originally from N:Tullymet, near Pitlochry, Perthshire. He moved to London in the last decade N:of his life. "Lord Hinchinbrook's Reel" was composed by Edinburgh fiddler-composer and bandleader biography:Robert Mackintosh (c. 1745-1808) and printed in his Fourth Collection of New Strathspey Reels (c. 1804). Lord Hinchingbrooke (note sp.) was the courtesy title given to the eldest son of the Earls of Sandwich. At the time of Mackintosh's publication, Lord Hinchingbrooke as George John Montagu (1773-1818), styled Lord Hinchingbrooke from 1790 to 1814, when (his elder half-brother having died), he inherited the earldom from his father along with the Hinchingbrooke estate in Huntingdonshire. Educated at Eton and Trinity, prior to his obtaining the earldom he was MP for Huntingdonshire. .
