MAGGIE TRIPPING ON THE SHORE. Irish, Reel (whole time). G Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AAB. The tune appears in the large mid-19th century music manuscript collection of County Cork cleric and uilleann piper Canon biography:James Goodman under the title “Maggie Tripping on the Shore.” Goodman researchers Hugh and Lisa Shield note the reel is related to some versions of the Irish tune "Maggie Pickens," and also see similarities with "Whistle owre the lave o't" (Goodman mss., vol. 4, p. 22)
