Irish, Double Jig. G Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB (Roche): AABB' (Mulvihill). A jig with a variety of titles. "The Maids of Glenroe" is the name of the tune in Frank Roche's 1912 collection, while Francis O'Neill called it "Maid at the Well" and also "Milkmaid (2) (The)." 19th century County Cork cleric and uilleann piper James Goodman included it in his manuscript collection as "Black Stripper (The)" and "Kilkenny Jig (The)." Brendan Breathnach notes that John Potts called it "Blackthorn Stick (5) (The)."
