AKA and see "Carthy's," "Crossing the Shannon (2)," "Day I Met Tom Moylan (The)," "Ginley's Fancy," "Handsome Sally (1)," "McGinley's," "Merry Thatcher (The)," "Miss Kelly's Favourite," "Old Tom," "Paddy Carthy's Reel (2)," "Sally Grant," "Through the Heather," "Tom Ginley's." Irish, Reel. E Minor/E Dorian (most versions): A Dorian (Fiddler Mag.). Standard tuning (fiddle). AB (Cranitch, Mulvihill): AAB (O'Neill/1850 & 1001): AA'B (Armagh Piper's Club, O'Neill/Krassen). A popular session reel, popularized by the 1978 recording by Noel Hill and Tony Linnane. The alternate title "Ginley's Fancy" comes from Galway accordion player Joe Burke, who has helped popularize the tune in modern times. "Autumn Leaves" and "New Potatoes (The)" are related tunes, as are many (more or less closely) in the first strain. Accordion player Paddy O'Brien played the tune in 'D' minor. See also the cognate strain of Scottish fiddler-composer Duncan McKercher's "Right Honourable Lord Elcho (The)."
