This untitled march was entered into Book 3 of the large c. 1883 music manuscript collection of County Leitrim piper and fiddler biography:Stephen Grier (c. 1824-1894). Grier researchers Fr. John Quinn and Conor Ward find the tune cognate with the Scottish march "Johnny's Trip to France." Irish variants of the march tune, they find, are in both duple and triple time and include Frank Roche's "Bag Pipe Tune" and one of the tunes for the dance "Waves of Torey (The)." A 6/8 variant is "Hills of Glenorchy."
