MARCH FOR THE CLANS, A. Scottish, March (whole time). C Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB. The melody appears in the c. 1813 volume of musician William Morrison of Culloden (c. 1770-1825), with the note: "Composed by a Gentleman, of whose numerous acts of experienced humanity, the Author of this Collection shall ever retain the most lively sensations of gratitude.” It seems likely that the 'gentleman' was Morrison's probable patron, Major H.R. Duff (see note for "annotation:Mr. H.R. Duff's Favorite" for more).
