Michael Preston is the name of two famed Irish flute players, father and son. Michael Preston Sr. was a flute player from Ballymote, County Sligo, who worked for the Irish railroad and eventually settled in County Clare. His son Michael was born in Ballymote in 1926, and joined the Tulla Ceili Band in 1952, playing with them a decade before emigrating to Boston in 1962. He moved to the Bronx, New York, a few years later.
