The melody (and dance instructions) were printed in John Hinton's Universal Magazine of Knowledge and Pleasure (London, September, 1756), although perhaps were first printed in Peter Thompson's Twenty Four Country Dances for the Year 1755. It also was printed in John Johnson's 200 Favourite Country Dances, vol. 8 (London, 1758) as well as Charles and Samuel Thompson's 1757 collection.
