MISS BUTLER’S REEL (Ríl Iníon de Buitléir). AKA and see "Bunch of Currents (3)/Currants." Irish, Reel (cut time). G Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AAB. Researcher Conor Ward finds the first strain is cognate with the first strains of "Diamond (1)" and "Bunch of Roses (1)" (both in Ryan's Mammoth Collection), and "Lady Elinor Butler's Reel" (in Smollet Holden's Favourite Collection of Dances for the Present Season, Dublin, 1805). Gerry O'Connor gives "Bunch of Currents (3)/Currants" as an alternate title for "Miss Butler's Reel" as printed in curate and fiddler biography:Rev. Luke Donnellan's turn-of-the-20th century music manuscript collection (Oriel region, south Ulster).
