"Miss Grant of Elchies's Strathspey [3]" was composed by Elgin fiddler-composer biography:Donald Grant and published in his Collection of Strathspeys, Reels, Jigs &c. (1820-21). There were branches of the Grant family at Easter Elchies and Wester Elchies. Robert Grant became first Laird of Wester Elchies, Knockando, in 1783 and lived at the mansion house. His son Charles inherited the estate and founded Charlestown of Aberlour in 1812, but died unmarried.
