MISS LYLLE OF GARDYNE'S. Scottish, Strathspey (cut time). G Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AAB. Duff's 'Miss Lylle' was probably a relation of Thomas Lyell of Gardyne, perhaps his sister Elizabeth. Thomas was a merchant of Montrose who married Marjory, daughter of Patrick Renny of Usan. He took down a portion of the Castle of Gardyne and rebuilt it in 1798. Marjory is perhaps the subject of another of fiddler-composer Archibald Duff's strathspeys, "Miss Margaret Renny's."
