MISS ROGERSON'S REEL. Scottish, Reel (cut time). G Major. Stnadard tuning (fiddle). AB. Composed (probably) by biography:James Porteous (1762-1847), a fiddler-composer from Annandale, Dumfries. The reel was entered into the 1840 music manuscript collection of multi-instrumentalist John Rook, of Waverton, near Wigton, Cumbria. It is the only tune on Rook's MS page the is not specifically attributed to Porteous, who is the composer of "Miss Rogerson's Strathspey." It seems very likely he composed both tunes as a strathspey-reel medley.
