MOHER REEL, THE. AKA and see "Abbey Reel (The)," "Kilfenora Reel (7)," "Turf Man's Union (The)," "Turfman's Union," "Union Reel (2)." Irish, Reel. A Mixolydian. Standard tuning (fiddle). The key is sometimes given as 'D' major rather than 'A' mixolydian. The influential north County Clare Kilfenora Céilí Band recorded the tune in the late 1950's as "Union Reel (2)," and the tune has been referred to as "Kilfenora Reel (The)" as a result. The band was All-Ireland champion for three consecutive years, 1954-1956.
