Annotation:Molly on the Shore (2)
Appearance
MOLLY ON THE SHORE [2]. Irish, Reel. G Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). ABCD. Composed by County Cavan/Philadelphia fiddle player and composer Ed Reavy (1898-1988). Reavy rewrote the first two parts of the tune and added an original third part. However, like the Rowsome settings (see "Molly on the Shore (1)" and Connolly/Martin version, Reavy's is a reworking of the Stanford/Petrie tunes "Temple Hill" and "Molly on the Shore," albeit more of the former than the latter (as Paul De Grae points out). "Kerryman's Daughter (2) (The)," "Sweetheart Reel (The)," "They Sailed away from Dublin Bay, and "Tripping thro' the Meadows" are also members of the tune family that is closely related to Reavy's first two strains.
