MONFRINA [1]. English, Jig. A Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB. A monfrina was a dance from the Montferrat, Piedmont, region of northern Italy. The form became popular in England around the year 1800, when the English armed forces became involved in the region during the wars with France.
