MONSIGNOR'S BLESSING, THE (Beannacht an Mhoinsíneora). AKA and see "Father Kelly's Reel (3)," "Over the Bog Road." Irish, Reel. D Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AB. The melody is similar to "Twin Katy's," "Humors of Newcastle (The)" and "Captain Kelly's Reel (2)." Source Kathleen Collins also called the tune "Captain Kelly's Reel," according to Brendan Breathnach, which is the name of a similar tune in the O'Neill collections (See "Captain Kelly's Reel (1)"). The first strain of "Nancy in the Hobble" seems distantly related to the first strain of "Monsignor's Blessing."
