MOVING BOG [5], THE. Irish, Jig (6/8 time). D Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB'. The tune comes from a music manuscript page written by Belfast uilleann piper R.L. O'Mealy (1873-1947), as a tutorial to a pupil. Along with the lesson was a penned note:

R.L. O'Mealy

This type of jig is about the oldest in Irish music. Ther were known as "Sling Jigs" & very nice to see them danced properly. Though set in 6/8 time they are not at all the double jig type but have a lovely sling when danced properly. Collectors & publishers generally don't understand them & sometimes write them in 2/4 and put them with the reels.
