The strathspey was composed by gamekeeper and fiddler-composer biography:John Crerar, named for the son of General Lord Glenlyon, James Murray and his wife Lady Emily Percy. George Frederick was born in 1814, and Crerar researcher Eilidh Scammell suggest Crerar composed it at the time of his birth.
