MR. JOHN REDDIE'S STRATHSPEY. Scottish, Strathspey (cut time). C Minor. Standard tuning (fiddle). AAB. "Mr. John Reddie's Strathspey" was composed by fiddler-composer and music teacher biography:James Walker (1771-1840) of Dysart, Fife, one of several Walker composed for members of the Reddies family (who were presumably among his patrons). The tune is probably named forJohn Reddie (1727–1805), a merchant in Dysart, who in 1766 married May Burd (1744–1815),daughter of George Burd and Margaret Black. One of their grandchildren, wikipedia:James_Campbell_Reddie (1807--1878), who was estranged from his father, James Reddie, was a 19th-century collector and author of pornography who wrote under the name "James Campbell."
