MR. ROBERT BAIN'S STRATHSPEY. Scottish, Strathspey (whole time). C Minor. Standard tuning (fiddle). AB. "Mr. Robert Bain's Strathspey" was composed by Elgin fiddler-composer biography:Donald Grant and published in his Collection of Strathspeys, Reels, Jigs &c. (1820-21). Grant's title may refer to the Robert Bain who, along with Andrew Peary, founded the Miltonduff distillery in 1824. The distillery had previously operated illicitly on the Speyside site since the turning of the 19th century, but following the passing of the Exercise Act in 1823, Peary and Bain established the distillery as a legitimate business operation.
