This 18th century melody was probably composed, and certainly published by John MacGlashan (sometimes McGlashan), who may or may not have been related to the famous Scottish fiddle/composer Alexander "King" MacGlashan (d. 1797). John MacGlashan first surfaces in Aitchison's Edinburgh Directory for 1796-7, as Macglashan, John, piano teacher, 13 Thistle Street.
