Composed by Inverness/Edinburgh dancing master and musician biography:Joseph Lowe. The tune is sometimes called “Mrs. Baillie” on Cape Breton island. Redcastle was until recently one of the oldest inhabited houses in Scotland. It was purchased in 1838 by Colonel Hugh Duncan Baillie of Dochfour, a Lieutenant for Co. Ross and an MP for Rye and Honiton. His first wife was a minister's daughter, Elizabeth Heynett, and his second (and, given the dates of composer J. Lowe, probably the 'Mrs. Colonel') was Mary, daughter of Thomas Smith of Castleton Hall.
