MRS. CUMMING BRUCE'S STRATHSPEY. Scottish, Strathspey (whole time). B Flat Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AAB. "Mrs. Cumming Bruce's Strathspey" was composed by Sir Archibald Dunbar of Northfield, Elgin. Major Cumming Bruce (1790-1875) of Dunphail and Kinnaird (AKA Charles Lennox Cumming-Bruce of Roseisle and Kinnaird) was a conservative politician and M.P. for the Inverness Burghs in the 1830's. Married in 1820, his spouse was Mary Elizabeth Bruce (d. 1874), the only daughter of Scottish traveler and travel writer James Bruce and Mary Dundas.
