This version of the jig printed the earlier O'Neill collections (Music of Ireland, 1903/Dance Music of Ireland, 1907) is very similar to the former tunes, save that 'c' naturals have been prominently introduced. Paul de Grae [1], in pointing this out, remarks this is the way it would normally be played, and suggests that this may reflect the influence of Selena O'Neill (no relation to Francis O'Neill or James O'Neill), a fiddler and musical collaborator on O'Neill's Irish Music (1915). O'Neill's source for this later version, Chicago piper and flutist John Ennis, was the father of Tom Ennis, who was a famous piper in his own right. The younger Ennis recorded this tune on 78 RPM paired with "Sullivan's Jig." Another Irish-American piper, Jimmie McLaughlin (about whom nothing is known) also recorded the jig set on 78 RPM for the Gennet label (No. 5356), although he called the first melody "Judy Hynes"). Irish-American piper Patsy Touhey played the jig for Capt. Francis O'Neill in the early 1900's, as the latter waxed it on a cylinder recording (see "Patsy Tuohy's Jig"). Brendan Breathnach printed a version in his Ceol Rince na hÉirreann vol. 1 (1963) as "Pádraic Mac Giollarnáth."
