NAPOLEON'S MARCH. AKA and see "Bonaparte's Grand March (1)," "Buonoparte's March," "Cossack's March (The)," "Hanoverian March," "Napoleon's Grand March," "Bonaparte's March (2)." English, March (whole or cut time). D Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB (Layborn): AABB'C (Scanlon). A nineteenth century march that seems to have been popular toward the middle of the century. It was entered into the c. 1850 music copybook of Lake District musician William Irwin and the late 19th century copybook of Cumbrian musician Henry Stables. The march was entered as "Cossack's March (The)" into the music manuscript collections of Irish musicians and collectors James Goodman and Rev. Luke Donnellan.
