NIEL GOW'S REEL [1]. AKA and see "Boyne Hunt (1)," "Highland Skip (2)," "Molly Maguire (2)," "Perth Hunt," "Perthshire Hunt," "Popcorn (The)," "Richmond Hill (2)," "Sailor's Trip to Liverpool," "Smyth's Reel." Scottish, Reel. A Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AB. The tune appears to have a Scottish provenance (as "Perthshire Hunt"), but also a rich Irish tradition, known under a variety of titles and variants. There is no serious intent to tie the tune to Niel Gow himself, save the iconic title in Ryan's Mammoth Collection (1883).
