NIGHT OF THE FUN [2], THE. AKA and see "Cailín Lasa Sal Roc," "Dublin Boys (The)," "Dublin Boy's Jig," "Dublin Streets," "Fig for a Kiss (1) (A)," "Gaire na mBan," "Gliogar an Mheadair," "Gurgling of the Churn (The)," "Humors of Bottle Hill," "Milk the Churn," "Night of Fun (The)," "Old Dutch Churn (The)," "Splashing of the Churn (2)," "Two in a Gig." Irish, Air (9/8 time). E Dorian. Standard tuning (fiddle). AB. Joyce categorizes the melody he prints as a "song tune", although it is a more distanced, perhaps ill-formed, variant of the "Fig for a Kiss (1) (A)" family of tunes. Ryan (1883) prints the tune under the title "Night of Fun," and Paul de Grae points out the tunes are in fact a combination of the first strain of "Fig for a Kiss (1) (A)" with the second strain of "Dublin Streets."
