NITCHES OVER THE HILL. American, Reel (cut time). A Mixolydian. AEae tuning (fiddle). One part. "Nitchez over the Hill" is from the playing of fiddle and banjo player Wade Ward (1892-1971) of Independence, southwestern Virginia. The title is a variant of "Natchez under the Hill," the name of several different, unrelated tunes. However, the first strain of Ward's tune has similarities to "Natchez."
