NORTH SHORE [3]. English, Hornpipe. G Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB. The melody appears in the John Rook manuscript book, entitled Multum in Parvo, or a Collection of old English, Scotch, Irish, Welsh Tunes (p. 226), dated 1840. The tune is one of only a few with composer attributions, this tune to one 'A.M. Hope', perhaps a local Cumbrian musician, as Rook himself was a multi-instrumentalist (fiddle, pipes, flute?) from Waverton, near Wigton, Cumbria.
